Bio
Recruited from local side North Footscray, Ian Letcher broke into the VFL ranks as a teenager, debuting for the Bulldogs at just 17 years of age. A centreman standing 180cm, he spent his early years on the periphery of a powerful Footscray list, finding regular senior selection difficult to come by during the club's celebrated 1954 premiership era. After four seasons serving as a depth player at the Western Oval, he crossed to St Kilda in 1957 hoping to secure more game time. The move to the Junction Oval yielded only four senior appearances, and he finished his career as a serviceable midfielder who was largely squeezed out by the strength of his original club's list.
