Bio
Recruited from Yea in country Victoria, Ian McCrae developed into a serviceable rover and forward pocket for Fitzroy during a lean era for the club in the 1960s. After breaking into the senior side in 1962, he established himself as a regular fixture who could rotate through the midfield or drift forward to hit the scoreboard. His individual career highlight arrived during the difficult 1965 season when he topped the Lions' goalkicking table, serving as a reliable avenue to goal in a struggling lineup. A loyal servant at the Brunswick Street Oval for nine seasons, McCrae finished his VFL career in 1970 on 97 games, falling agonisingly short of the 100-game milestone.
