Bio
Recruited from Williamstown, Ian McTaggart was a powerful VFA forward who found his way to North Melbourne after the Association suspended competition during the Second World War. Possessing a heavy 94kg frame that made him a physically imposing target for the era, he used his size to great effect inside 50, averaging better than a goal a game during his brief tenure at the top level. McTaggart played just four senior matches for the Shinboners in 1942 before eventually returning to state league football, splitting the 1945 season between Williamstown and Preston.
