Bio
Recruited from Ararat in the Wimmera region, Ian O'Halloran was a sturdy key position prospect who arrived at Kardinia Park for the 1957 season. Standing at 183cm, he was handed a true baptism of fire in his VFL debut, lining up at centre half-forward against the legendary Ted Whitten in the opening round against Footscray. While the Cats were desperate for new attacking options during a difficult era for the club, O'Halloran struggled to impose himself against such high-calibre opposition. He managed just three senior appearances without registering a goal before his brief stint in the league concluded, leaving him as one of many country stars who found the step up to VFL level a bridge too far.
