Bio
Recruited from Terang in Victoria’s Western District, Ian Scott was a dependable back pocket defender who achieved the ultimate success almost immediately after arriving at Geelong. Making his senior debut in 1963, he became a premiership player in his very first season, securing his place in history by playing in the Cats' famous Grand Final victory over Hawthorn—one of three matches he played against the Hawks in just his first four career games. Standing 180cm and weighing 84kg, Scott was a sturdy defensive presence during a golden era for the club, but his promising career was cut short by injury. He suffered a severe knee injury late in the 1965 season and, following a recurrence during the 1966 pre-season, was forced into premature retirement with 36 games to his name.
