Bio
A historical footnote in the formation of the VFL, Ivan Astruc was a member of Fitzroy's inaugural squad that took to the field against Carlton in Round 1, 1897. Playing as a forward, he featured in the Maroons' first six matches of the season and booted a single goal during a Round 5 victory over South Melbourne. Despite this consistent start to the campaign, Astruc lost his place in the senior side midway through the year and did not feature in the club's subsequent finals campaign or premiership victory. His brief tenure at the top level concluded after just one season, leaving him as one of the pioneering but fleeting figures of the competition's nascent era.
