Bio
Recruited from Colac, Ivan Forbes established himself as a dangerous goal-kicking rover and half-forward during his four-season stint at Geelong in the early 1900s. Arriving at Corio Oval in 1902, he immediately showcased a sharp eye for the goals, finishing his career with an impressive strike rate of more than a goal per game—a significant return in the low-scoring "dead ball" era. Forbes was a consistent contributor during a competitive period that saw the Pivotonians reach the finals in 1903, often drifting forward to punish opposition defences when resting from the ball. After his VFL career concluded in 1905, he eventually returned to the Colac district, where he remained a well-known local figure until his passing.
