Bio
Born into football royalty as the son of former Collingwood premiership captain and president Jim Sharp, Ivan Sharp forged his own path at Fitzroy after being recruited from Ivanhoe. Despite his Magpie lineage, he failed to secure a spot at Victoria Park and instead debuted for the Maroons in 1929, operating as a forward capable of hitting the scoreboard. He managed 13 goals across 18 senior appearances over two seasons but struggled to cement a permanent position in the starting eighteen. Sharp eventually sought a fresh start with Melbourne in 1932, where he featured in a Seconds premiership side without adding to his senior VFL tally, before moving to the Riverina to serve as playing coach for Narrandera.
