Bio
Recruited from Don Rovers, Ivor McIvor was a versatile key position player whose VFL career was severely curtailed by military service. After managing just two games in his debut 1940 season, he enlisted in the AIF and served as a bombardier in the Middle East and New Guinea, missing three prime years of football. He returned to Windy Hill late in 1944, immediately slotting into the side to play finals, where his strong marking and heavy kicking were assets despite a lack of genuine pace. However, his time at the top level ended controversially in 1946 when he crossed to Camberwell in the VFA without a clearance; the move resulted in a five-year disqualification from the League, though he continued on to a successful tenure as a captain-coach in the Association.
