Bio
Recruited from Cheltenham, Jack Austin was an athletic key position prospect affectionately dubbed "Jumping Jack" for his aerial ability. He broke into St Kilda's lineup during the club's historic 1966 premiership season, making his debut in Round 8 as a replacement for the injured Carl Ditterich. Austin showed immediate promise, kicking a vital last-quarter goal in a narrow win over Essendon and managing five goals across six appearances that year. Despite his contributions to the home-and-away campaign, he was unable to force his way into the settled premiership 20 for the Grand Final and departed Moorabbin shortly after. He resurfaced at Fitzroy in 1968, adding three final games to his VFL tally before his career at the top level concluded.
