Bio
Recruited by St Kilda with the prestigious third selection in the 2013 National Draft, Jack Billings carried the heavy weight of expectation throughout a decade-long tenure at Moorabbin. Developing into a high-production half-forward and wingman, he was renowned for his elite endurance, strong overhead marking for his size, and ability to accumulate possessions as a link-up player. His time with the Saints was highlighted by standout campaigns in 2017 and 2019, where he became one of the club's primary ball-movers and finished highly in the Trevor Barker Award. However, his career was often scrutinised due to his high draft standing and occasional struggles with goalkicking accuracy, while soft-tissue injuries and a dip in form eventually saw him fall out of favour under returning coach Ross Lyon in 2023.
Seeking a fresh start to revitalise his career, Billings executed a move to Melbourne during the 2023 trade period, with the Saints facilitating the deal to clear salary cap space. He spent his final two seasons adding experienced outside polish and depth to the Demons' midfield rotation, though competition for spots and fitness battles limited his impact. While he arguably never quite reached the superstar heights predicted during his junior years, Billings carved out a respectable career as a resilient, hard-running utility who provided over a decade of service at the highest level before concluding his time in the AFL after the 2025 season.
