Bio
Recruited from Ballarat, Jack Boyd was a clever half-forward who arrived at Essendon with significant promise for the 1927 season. Noted for being a cool decision-maker with a reliable kick, he booted two goals in his brief two-game stint but was unable to secure a permanent place in the senior side. While his playing days at the elite level were short-lived, Boyd successfully transitioned to umpiring, officiating 41 VFL matches between 1934 and 1936 before moving to Tasmania to continue his service in the North West Football Union.
