Bio
Recruited from Caulfield Amateurs, Jack Burke arrived at Hawthorn with a prolific reputation after booting a massive 160 goals in the 1938 season. Although he initially took time to adjust to the tempo of VFL football, he soon established himself as a versatile follower and forward capable of drifting deep to impact the scoreboard. His most memorable performance came late in the 1940 season when he bagged seven goals against St Kilda, providing a rare highlight for the club during a lean era. A consistent fixture in the side throughout the arduous war years, Burke’s career was prematurely ended by a knee injury in 1945.
