Bio
Recruited from Coburg, Jack Connole was a capable forward who joined Melbourne just prior to the outbreak of the Great War. He showed immediate promise in front of goal during his debut season in 1914, though his year ended unusually when he returned to his original club late in the campaign to assist with their VFA finals series. His VFL career was subsequently suspended for four years while he served overseas in France, a duty that cost him the prime of his athletic life. Connole eventually returned to the Melbourne lineup in 1919 for a brief five-game stint, finishing his short career with an impressive strike rate of nearly a goal per game.
