Bio
Recruited from Newport CYMS, Jack Donovan was a diminutive forward who began his VFL journey with Footscray in 1929. After managing only a single senior appearance for the Bulldogs, he crossed to North Melbourne the following season in search of regular senior football. Standing just 173cm, Donovan operated primarily as a resting rover or forward pocket, notably booting two goals against Melbourne in Round 4 of 1930. Despite showing glimpses of goal-kicking ability, he was unable to secure a permanent place in the Shinboners' lineup, and his league career concluded after just seven games.
