Bio
A product of the Williamstown VFA seconds and the local Brighton Vale club, Jack George began his VFL career facing the unenviable task of breaking into Collingwood's famous "Machine" defence. Blocked by Magpie mainstays like Charlie Dibbs and the emerging Jack Regan, George managed just seven senior appearances before making a rare mid-season switch to St Kilda in 1931. It was at the Junction Oval where he truly established himself, settling into a role as a dashing full-back known for his high marking and willingness to stream out of the goal square. He anchored the Saints' backline for several seasons until fitness concerns—specifically reports of him reporting for pre-season "carrying too much weight"—saw him transfer to South Melbourne for a final season in 1936.
