Bio
Recruited from the Ballarat Imperials, Jack Gray entered the VFL as a mature-age debutant in 1911, already 26 years old when he first donned the Hoops. A versatile follower and defender, he became a consistent figure in the Geelong lineup, offering grunt work around the ground and defensive stability during a decade where the club faced significant challenges. His career spanned the turbulent interruption of the First World War, and although the Pivotonians withdrew from the league in 1916 due to the conflict, Gray returned to help re-establish the side in 1917. He remained a dedicated servant well into his 30s, making a brief cameo in 1921 to close out his time at Corio Oval as a reliable clubman who helped bridge the pre- and post-war eras.
