Bio
Recruited from neighbouring VFA club Yarraville, Jack Gray was a product of the unique footballing landscape created by the Second World War. With the VFA competition suspended in 1942, Gray crossed to the Western Oval to bolster Footscray's depleted ranks, providing much-needed depth to a side navigating the challenges of wartime football. A medium-sized utility who primarily operated in the defensive half, he managed 11 senior appearances across two seasons without registering a goal. Gray's brief VFL tenure ended after the 1943 season, marking him as one of the many state-league stalwarts who ensured the competition's survival during the game's most turbulent era.
