Bio
Hailing from the mining town of Broken Hill, Jack Hanson was a sturdy defensive recruit who joined Footscray from the South Broken Hill Football Club. Arriving at the Western Oval in 1931, he quickly found a place in the Bulldogs' backline, where his focus was firmly on preventing scores rather than creating them. Indeed, Hanson concluded his VFL career without ever registering a major, playing his role as a disciplined backman who let his actions in the defensive 50 do the talking. He remained a serviceable contributor for the club over three seasons, notching 29 senior appearances before finishing his league tenure at the end of 1933.
