Stats
Bio
Recruited via one of the most unusual pathways in league history, diminutive rover Jack Hedley famously earned his spot on the North Melbourne list by walking into Arden Street off the street and asking for a trial. Standing just 163cm, the tenacious small man debuted at 17 years of age and established himself as a useful crumbing option for the Shinboners. His VFL career peaked early when he was selected on the bench for the 1950 Grand Final, though he could not help North prevent an Essendon victory in what became his final senior game for the club. Hedley subsequently moved to the VFA to become a regular goal-kicker for Camberwell, and while he later transferred to South Melbourne in 1954, he spent the season in the reserves and did not add to his senior tally.
