Bio
Drafted by Richmond with pick 17 in the 2017 National Draft, Jack Higgins arrived from the Oakleigh Chargers as a Morrish Medal winner with a reputation for his obsessive football knowledge and work rate. He burst onto the scene in 2018, capping a promising debut year by winning Goal of the Year for an acrobatic finish against Collingwood, but his time at Punt Road was severely disrupted by a brain bleed in 2019 that required multiple surgeries and threatened his playing career. Although he returned to the field in 2020, he missed out on the Tigers' premiership success and requested a trade to St Kilda at the end of that season to secure a fresh start and greater opportunity.
Since crossing to Moorabbin, Higgins has established himself as a energetic small forward known for his elite endurance and ability to find space inside 50. While his kicking accuracy has occasionally been erratic, his volume of scoring shots and defensive pressure made him a central figure in the Saints' attack, highlighted when he topped the club's goalkicking in 2023. Now a seasoned campaigner with over 200 career goals, he remains a vital spark for St Kilda, balancing his role as a goal sneak with the ability to push up the ground and link play.
