Bio
A prolific VFA spearhead, Jack Hiscock arrived at Melbourne in 1950 carrying a formidable reputation as Sandringham’s leading goalkicker. Although he dominated in the Association, the Demons viewed the recruit as undersized for a key position role at VFL level, deploying him as a half-forward rather than in his customary deep forward role. Hiscock had attempted to join Melbourne during the 1949 pre-season but was unable to secure a clearance; when he finally debuted the following year, he found it difficult to impact the scoreboard against stronger defences. He made only four senior appearances before returning to the Zebras mid-season, eventually cementing his legacy as a country football icon by captain-coaching Trentham to multiple premierships in the Riddell District Football League.
