Bio
Recruited from the South Melbourne Colts, Jack Hudson was a homegrown talent who graduated to the senior side in 1954. Standing 175cm but carrying a robust 86kg frame, he was a stocky defender built for physical contests rather than aerial exploits. Hudson operated primarily in the back pocket, where he used his strength to body up against opposition small forwards and lock down defensive space. He was a defensive-minded player throughout his tenure, managing just a single goal across his six seasons at the Lakeside Oval. Hudson remained a fringe contributor for South Melbourne during a lean era for the club, often fighting for his spot in the lineup until his final VFL appearance in 1959.
