Stats
Bio
Recruited from South Bendigo, Jack Hunter was a towering key forward who boasted an imposing 192cm frame and a prolific conversion rate during a brief but efficient VFL career. He burst onto the scene with Essendon in 1940, booting seven goals in his first two games, but was unable to consolidate his spot at Windy Hill and spent the 1941 season in the VFA with Brunswick. Hunter returned to the top level with North Melbourne during the war years, where he maintained his dangerous form in front of goal, including a five-goal haul against St Kilda in 1944. Despite averaging more than two goals per game across his nine appearances, he remained a fringe player at senior level and eventually departed Arden Street to coach Fairfield in the suburban leagues.
