Bio
Recruited from North Essendon Methodists, Jack Johnson was a diminutive rover who displayed a sharp eye for goal during his fleeting VFL career. Standing just 170cm, he wasted no time making his presence felt at Windy Hill, booting eight goals across his five senior appearances in the 1947 season. Despite showing the potential to become a regular fixture in the Bombers' forward half, his time at the top level was abruptly curtailed by military service. Johnson left the club to join the Royal Australian Navy, where he served until 1962, effectively trading a promising football future for a life at sea.
