Bio
Recruited from South Bendigo, Jack Johnson arrived at Melbourne ahead of the 1907 season, where he was briefly teammates with his brother Charlie. Johnson proved remarkably durable in his debut year, playing every match of the season and establishing himself as a consistent contributor for the Redlegs. While he booted three goals during that campaign, he was primarily a reliable role player who helped stabilize the side during a competitive era. He was assigned the number one guernsey for the 1908 season but managed just one senior appearance—a loss to league newcomers Richmond—before his VFL career came to a premature end after 16 games.
