Bio
Recruited to South Melbourne during a golden era for the club, Jack Jones was a diminutive forward and rover who fought hard for opportunities in a star-studded lineup. Standing just 171cm, he made his debut in 1908 and immediately displayed a sharp eye for the goals, managing a respectable scoring return relative to his limited game time. His career coincided with the Bloods' surge up the ladder, including the historic 1909 premiership campaign where he featured in six matches but was ultimately unable to displace the club’s established stars for the Grand Final victory over Carlton. Jones remained a depth player at the Lake Oval until the end of 1910, concluding his time in the VFL as a serviceable contributor to one of the club's most successful periods.
