Bio
Recruited from the Dandenong Stingrays with pick 41 in the 2014 National Draft, Jack Lonie made an immediate impression at St Kilda as a diminutive but tenacious small forward. Renowned for his high work rate and nagging forward pressure, Lonie played with an agitator's mindset that often unsettled opposition defenders, combining tackling intent with a crafty left foot near goal. Despite a promising debut season, his career became defined by a constant battle to cement a position in the Saints' best 22, often serving as a fringe player who drifted between the senior side and the VFL depending on form and team balance. While he explored trade options in 2020 before signing a short-term extension, he struggled to break into the lineup during the 2021 season and was delisted at year's end, concluding a seven-season tenure at Moorabbin.
