Bio
Recruited from local outfit Marnock Vale, Jack Lynch emerged as a promising key forward for Geelong just prior to the Second World War. After starring at full-forward in the Cats' 1938 Reserves premiership victory, he graduated to the senior side the following year and immediately proved a reliable avenue to goal, averaging better than 1.5 goals per game across two seasons at Corio Oval. His VFL career ended controversially in 1941 when he crossed to VFA club Preston without a clearance, where he emphatically demonstrated his scoring potency by booting a massive 132 goals in a single season. Tragically, Lynch's football journey and life were cut short when he was killed in an accident while on active service in Queensland in 1944.
