Bio
Selected with pick six in the 2012 National Draft from the Oakleigh Chargers, Jack Macrae quickly established himself as one of the most prolific ball-winners of the modern era. A relentless left-footed midfielder known for his elite vision, creative handballing, and ability to find space in heavy traffic, he became a cornerstone of the Western Bulldogs' engine room alongside Marcus Bontempelli and Tom Liberatore. Macrae's consistency was instrumental in the club's fairytale 2016 premiership victory and saw him rewarded with three consecutive All-Australian blazers from 2019 to 2021, cementing his reputation as an elite accumulation player who rarely played a bad game.
Despite his accolades and status as a club life member, Macrae's role diminished significantly during the 2024 season. Struggling to secure his preferred inside midfield position and frequently used as the tactical substitute or relegated to the VFL, he requested a trade to St Kilda at the end of the year in search of greater opportunity. Moving to Moorabbin for the 2025 season, Macrae adds immediate experience and class to the Saints' midfield group, serving as a veteran mentor while looking to recapture his best form in new colours.
