Stats
Bio
Arriving from Mornington, Jack McArthur was a diminutive utility who struggled to cement a permanent place in a powerful Fitzroy lineup. Standing at just 170cm, he was a lightly built operator who played his football behind the ball or through the midfield, failing to register a goal across his brief VFL tenure. After breaking into the senior side for six games in 1912, he played a supporting role during the club's dominant 1913 campaign, making eight appearances to help the Maroons secure the minor premiership. Despite his contributions during the home-and-away season, the competitive depth of the eventual premiers saw him squeezed out of the best 18 prior to the finals series. He departed the league shortly after, a hard-luck story who contributed to a premiership year without taking the field on Grand Final day.
