Bio
Recruited from the Gordon Fliers, Jack McDonagh was a Footscray local who played a single prominent season for the club in 1936. Initially deployed as a follower and forward, he featured in 14 senior games for the Bulldogs but could not establish a permanent VFL career, eventually departing for a brief stint with Melbourne's reserves. He found his greatest success after crossing to the VFA, where he reinvented himself as a dependable full-back for Williamstown. McDonagh became a key pillar of the Seagulls' defence, starring in their 1939 premiership triumph and earning best-in-finals honours before serving his country in World War II.
