Bio
Recruited from VFA club Brunswick, Jack McElroy was a tall forward who arrived at Princes Park with a prolific goal-kicking record. Born in Warracknabeal, the 183cm attacker had booted 76 goals in 49 games for the Magpies before crossing to Carlton for the 1938 season. Although he offered a strong presence in attack, McElroy could not quite replicate his dominant Association form against tighter League defences, managing 12 goals in 17 games over two years. He returned to Brunswick in 1940, where he immediately resumed his status as a key spearhead with another heavy scoring run.
