Bio
Recruited from East Ballarat in the Ballarat Football League, Jack Meagher arrived at the Lake Oval as a promising forward prospect during a lean period for South Melbourne. Standing 182cm, he possessed the size to play as a marking target and wasted little time making an impact, quickly finding the goals upon his introduction to VFL football. He managed to boot four majors across his four senior appearances, maintaining a tidy average of a goal a game during the 1953 and 1954 seasons. Despite showing he could hit the scoreboard at the elite level, Meagher was unable to cement a permanent spot in the Swans' lineup, ultimately seeing his brief VFL career conclude after just two years.
