Bio
Arriving at Victoria Park with the heavy burden of a famous surname, Jack Monohan was the son of the club’s legendary high-flying defender of the same name. Recruited from the local Collingwood District side, he was a tall forward who stood 185cm, offering a different on-field profile to his backline-marshalling father. Monohan broke into the senior team late in the 1924 season and managed a handful of appearances, but he struggled to command a permanent place in a strong Magpies lineup that was regularly contending for finals. Unable to cement his spot after just seven games across two years, he eventually crossed to the Association and forged a successful long-term career with Preston, playing over 100 games for the Bullants.
