Bio
Recruited from Footscray in the VFA, Jack O'Loughlin was a turn-of-the-century footballer whose lasting legacy was established as a pioneering official rather than a player. He made his VFL debut for Geelong in 1898, featuring intermittently for the club over four years before a final brief stint with St Kilda in 1902. While he managed just 25 senior games and struggled to hold a regular spot in the starting lineup, O'Loughlin remained a fixture in the league by becoming one of the VFL's inaugural boundary umpires in 1904. He served in the role for several seasons, officiating more than 90 matches and earning an appointment to the 1909 Grand Final.
