Bio
Recruited from the Golden Point club in the Ballarat Football League, Jack Patterson initially broke into the VFL with South Melbourne in 1931. After managing just three senior appearances at the Lakeside Oval, he crossed to North Melbourne the following season in search of greater opportunity, quickly establishing himself as a regular fixture in the lineup during a lean era for the club. Operating primarily as a rover who could drift forward to hit the scoreboard, Patterson provided a spark for the Shinboners' attack, most notably topping the club's goalkicking table in 1934 with 19 majors. He remained a serviceable contributor for North Melbourne until the middle of the 1935 season, concluding his league career with a respectable goal-per-game average.
