Bio
Recruited from Glenelg with pick 25 in the 2008 National Draft, Jack Redden established himself as a model of durability and consistency during his initial tenure with the Brisbane Lions. He became a staple of the Lions' engine room during a difficult era for the club, playing 112 consecutive games at one point and building a reputation as a high-volume tackler who worked tirelessly both ways. Seeking a fresh start and the chance for finals football, Redden requested a trade following the 2015 season and moved to the West Coast Eagles. While his initial transition was slow as he battled for a spot inside a star-studded midfield, he eventually solidified his place as a key clearance winner and defensive stopper.
Redden's career legacy is defined by his pivotal role in West Coast's 2018 premiership campaign. Stepping up when the midfield was under pressure, he produced a career-best month of football during that finals series, proving instrumental in the club's flag victory. A rugged inside midfielder who prioritised team acts over individual accolades, Redden finished his career in 2022 as a highly respected veteran across two states. He is remembered not for flashiness, but for his reliability, contested ball-winning ability, and the crucial contributions he made when the stakes were highest.
