Bio
Born in Melbourne and recruited from St Ignatius, Jack Sheehan was a diminutive footballer who initially struggled to establish himself at the highest level. After managing just three games as a forward for Collingwood in 1911 and failing to crack the senior side at Melbourne the following year, he moved to Tasmania to play for Launceston's City club. It was there that Sheehan revitalised his career, developing an attractive and effective style that earned him another shot at the VFL with Richmond in 1915. He reinvented himself as a capable centreman at Punt Road, enjoying a strong debut season before his momentum was halted by World War I. Sheehan enlisted in the AIF mid-season but was discharged on medical grounds without serving overseas, eventually returning to add four final games to his tally in 1917 before moving to New South Wales to captain-coach Sydney.
