Bio
Recruited from the Geelong Falcons with pick 42 in the 2007 National Draft, Jack Steven evolved from a dangerous forward pocket into one of St Kilda's most decorated midfielders. Renowned for his explosive burst of speed away from stoppages and his ability to hit the scoreboard, Steven became the driving force of the Saints' engine room during a prolonged rebuilding phase following the club's Grand Final era. His tireless work rate and prolific ball-winning ability were recognised with four Trevor Barker Awards between 2013 and 2018, a feat that places him in elite company alongside club legends such as Nick Riewoldt and Robert Harvey.
Seeking a fresh start and a return to the Surf Coast for lifestyle reasons, Steven requested a trade to Geelong ahead of the 2020 season. The move allowed him to be closer to family and friends in Lorne, but his singular season at Kardinia Park was disrupted by injury and limited to just nine appearances. He retired at the end of 2020, concluding a career defined not by its quiet end, but by his tenure as a dynamic, line-breaking midfielder who carried St Kilda through a challenging decade.
