Bio
Recruited from Ormond Amateurs, Jack Sullivan was a versatile big man capable of playing as a follower or holding down a key defensive post. He established himself early at Punt Road, notably manning centre half-back in the Tigers' 1942 Grand Final side, but his prime years were interrupted by World War II service in the RAAF which cost him the entire 1944 and 1945 seasons. After managing just six games upon his return in 1946, he departed for Williamstown before cementing his legacy in Tasmania. Sullivan thrived as the captain-coach of Hobart, where he claimed the 1947 William Leitch Medal and steered the club to a premiership, proving himself a high-calibre talent whose VFL games tally was severely suppressed by the war.
