Stats
Bio
A product of Melbourne’s own development pathway, Jack Thomson worked his way through the thirds and seconds before breaking into the senior lineup in late 1949. Standing 185cm, he proved to be a valuable utility for the Demons, capable of pinch-hitting in the ruck, plugging gaps in defence, or playing as a target at centre half-forward. After resisting an approach from VFA club Prahran in 1950, he enjoyed his most consistent form over the following two seasons, becoming a regular fixture in the side and drifting forward to kick useful goals. Despite establishing himself as a senior regular, Thomson’s VFL career ended prematurely at just 25 years of age when he departed the club in 1954 to become the playing coach of Nhill in the Wimmera Football League.
