Bio
Jack Twyford was a skilled rover whose VFL career was defined by a successful mid-career surge sandwiched between dominance in the VFA. After managing only a single senior appearance for South Melbourne in 1929, he honed his craft with Port Melbourne before Richmond recruited him in 1931. His time at Punt Road proved to be the pinnacle of his league tenure, as he played a vital role in the Tigers' 1932 premiership victory. Twyford crossed to arch-rivals Collingwood for the 1934 season, where he immediately cemented a spot in the side and played in the Grand Final loss against his former club, eventually departing the VFL to return to Port Melbourne as captain-coach.
