Bio
Recruited from the small township of Granya in north-east Victoria, Jack Webb was a tall prospect who stood six feet (182cm), a significant height for a footballer in the interwar era. He initially broke into the VFL with Footscray in 1929, managing two senior appearances as the Bulldogs fought to establish themselves in the league. After a three-year hiatus from the top level—common for country recruits during the Depression years who often returned home for work or played in regional competitions—Webb resurfaced at Arden Street with North Melbourne in 1932. He added just one more game to his tally with the Shinboners before finishing his brief VFL career, remembered as a tall utility who briefly tested himself in the city but ultimately found opportunities scarce across two short stints.
