Teams

A powerfully built journeyman from Tyabb, Jack Woolley forged a varied career as a physical key-position utility across both the VFL and VFA. After cutting his teeth with Preston and Northcote in the Association, he broke into the big league with Essendon in 1913, where his robust 182cm frame and aggression saw him frequently deployed as a follower or forward. His time at East Melbourne ended with a rare mid-season crossing to Melbourne in 1914, but his stint with the Fuchsias was brief, appearing just twice before drifting out of the league during the tumultuous Great War years. Woolley resurfaced at Carlton in 1918 to provide experienced muscle for the Blues as the competition rebuilt, playing two seasons at Princes Park before eventually concluding his nomadic playing days with Hawthorn in the VFA.
