Bio
Recruited from the Geelong Falcons with pick 31 in the 2011 National Draft, Jackson Merrett arrived at Essendon as a pacy half-forward and wingman known for his running capacity. He showed early promise with his ability to find space and hit the scoreboard, enjoying his most consistent run of form during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. His time at Tullamarine became notable for the arrival of his younger brother Zach in the 2013 draft, creating a unique family dynamic at the club, though their on-field fortunes eventually diverged as Zach developed into a premier midfielder while Jackson battled for consistency. Unable to translate his strong VFL form into a regular senior berth under John Worsfold, Merrett spent his final season playing exclusively in the reserves before being delisted at the conclusion of 2018.
