Bio
Recruited from the Sandringham Dragons with pick 50 in the 2011 National Draft, Jackson Paine began his career at Collingwood as a traditional key forward known for his strong marking and reliable left boot. Despite showing early promise, including a goal on debut in the 2012 Queen's Birthday match, he found himself stuck behind established forwards like Travis Cloke and struggled to break into the senior side consistently. Seeking greater opportunity, Paine was traded to the Brisbane Lions at the end of 2013 in a direct exchange for Patrick Karnezis. His time in Queensland was marred by an inability to secure a permanent spot in the forward line, leading to a temporary delisting and a lifeline via the rookie draft. Paine eventually reinvented himself as a key defender in the NEAFL, utilising his reading of the play to intercept across half-back, but he added just ten games to his tally at Brisbane before his final delisting at the conclusion of the 2016 season.
