A disciplined small defender recruited from East Perth with pick 38 in the 2012 National Draft, Jackson Ramsay’s AFL career was ultimately defined by cruel injury timing. He broke into the Collingwood side late in 2014, impressing coaching staff with his pace and lockdown capabilities, but his momentum was repeatedly stalled by shin splints and a devastating ACL tear in 2016 just as he appeared to be cementing a spot in the best 22. Delisted in 2017, he returned to the WAFL to become a star midfielder and captain for East Perth, winning back-to-back best and fairest awards. His state-league dominance earned him a brief AFL lifeline in 2022 when West Coast signed him as a COVID-19 top-up player during the club's roster crisis, although he did not add to his senior game tally.
