Bio
A diminutive forward pocket standing just 165cm, Jacky Harris owns a unique slice of South Melbourne history as one of the rare footballers to make their VFL debut in a final. Born in the club's heartland of Albert Park, Harris was thrown into the deep end for the 1924 semi-final against Fitzroy, where the 23-year-old immediately made an impact by booting three goals in a win alongside club legend Roy Cazaly. He continued that form into the 1925 season, kicking seven goals in the opening five rounds to finish with a remarkable strike rate of nearly two goals per game. Despite this promising cameo as a dangerous small forward, his VFL career was brief, and he sadly passed away in New South Wales at just 43 years of age.
