Bio
Originally from Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula, Jacob Newton was a product of the Norwood junior program whose initial draft hopes were dashed by a navicular foot injury in 2024. After recovering to showcase his explosive speed and goal sense in the SANFL, he was handed an AFL lifeline by West Coast with pick 9 in the 2025 Mid-Season Rookie Draft. A tenacious small forward capable of pushing into the midfield, Newton is defined by his defensive pressure and sharp left-foot kicking. He broke into the senior side late in his debut season, playing two games and booting his first goal, with his promising start earning him a contract extension as he looks to cement a spot in the Eagles' lineup.
